Maria Avitabile
Since Maria was 12 years old she dreamed of a career in the arts. Although she had a natural flair for acting (according to her brother), she decided to forgo a life on the stage and attended Saturday morning art classes at F.I.T. She turned her dreams into reality upon graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology with an Associates Degree in Advertising Design and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts. She pursued a career designing coffee table books where she was inspired by the photography chosen for her layouts and discovered her true passion for photography. She then had the good fortune to work as production/personal assistant to Mark Seliger, where she learned the business of photography.
Later on Maria’s career evolved into a photographer’s agent where she started a music repping division for a photo agency, hand picking several photographers to pitch for CD packaging and publicity projects. She later created and headed the advertising repping division for Redux Pictures known as Redux Advertising.
This Scorpio is now a proud member of the Big Leo team. In true Scorpio fashion, she is loyal, resourceful, determined, and passionate about photography and collaborating with the Big Leo photographers. WE of course are happy to have her on board and are looking forward to many days of her baking!
