Jörg Meyer shot this wonderful campaign for Bobinette, clothing for boys. Very cute and hopefully durable as it gets rolled in the mud and covered with frog juice. The video has great footage from Bill Aylward of the creative firm Fred and Ethel, who captured the shoot for Bobinette and some of the way Jorg works. Kids are either the hardest or easiest group to photograph, because you either get them or you don’t. You have to really connect with them, and engage with them. No faking. Good thing Jorg is a great artist and genuinely nice guy – kids love him and you can really see it in the photographs.

David Land filmed this great interview with designers Celerie Kimble and Jamie Drake for TRADHome, the new online magazine that accompanies Traditional Home. It is a really great step for a print publication – they hired the team behind Lonny Mag to animate the online version with short films like this. Not only to you get to see stills of each designer’s work, you get to meet them on camera. What a great way to really to get to know them and see how their personality goes hand in hand with their personal style. Very cool.

People Food

Carrie Purcell put her famous food styling skills on display for this story in People magazine. One surefire way to feel like a celebrity, if only for one night, is to eat like one. First, set up a strobe light in the kitchen to simulate the paparazzi. Then, force your children to beg for your autograph over and over. Finally, bring out the most fabulous paper plates you have in the pantry. It will be like walking down the red carpet, but with more kitchen confidence and less pressure. Because we all know, when you’re famous, you never have to do the dishes (I assume this is because of the paper plates).

The Light Touch

Scott Horne is the master of the light touch – his styling is always subtle, simple, and beautiful. The Zen master of understatement (unlike us over here at this blog). Especially when he works with photographer Andrew McCaul, like on this shoot for JWM Magazine. The magazine is released by Marriott so you’ll have something nice to read while camped out in your Hong Kong hotel room eating oysters and drinking Red Bull, checking your Rolex every five minutes and waiting for the authorities to start looking elsewhere. Not that we’ve ever been on the run from the law. Probably.

Big Leo artists Hector Sanchez and Cynthia Groseclose teamed up for this sumptuous project on citrus (with fab design by Nicole Murtaugh!), coming to a mailbox near you. There is nothing like that first moment of peeling an orange or cutting open a grapefruit – the smell of citrus instantly brightens any day. We really wanted to do scratch and sniff for this mailer, but it just isn’t the same as the real thing. Almost better to open the envelope, find this promo, and let your imagination taste the delightful imagery. But one word of advice – try not to look at it before lunch.

Sheri Giblin photographed Teresa Giudice for her new book: “Fabulicious: Fast & Fit.” Chock full of recipes to keep you looking your best for the tanning salon, this book was a challenge to shoot. Partly because cookbooks by their very nature require an intense focus to fit in all the shots for the week, and partly because the stylist kept running out of hairsprayyyyyyyyyyy. Luckily the team kept their wits about them, and managed not to vote anyone out of the studio. Out of that solidarity came this beautiful book – reality tv has never looked so fabulicious!

In this sharp little video filmed by David Land, Paul Lowe of Sweet Paul fame gives some great tips on spring entertaining for Better Homes and Gardens magazine. It was shot for the iPad edition of the magazine; these videos are very much the equivalent of a story in the magazine, but more animated and better able to communicate an idea. The way Paul talks about little things that he plans for each dinner, you get a nice feel for his sense of style and ways to recreate that at home. Farmer’s Markets

Out this month in Women’s Health – a new story on farmer’s markets styled by Molly Fitzsimons. Along with photographer Romulo Yanes and food stylist Jamie Kimm, the team tried to evoke a feeling of summer by the sea. Waking up with the sound of the ocean, coffee and fruit for breakfast, a quick trip into the farmer’s market for some seasonal veggies and maybe a fresh catch. Skip the store – that sounds amazing. Isn’t funny how you can cut out the middleman and bring back the taste?

Mariana Velasquez styled these scrumptious sorbet creations, photographed so beautifully by William Brinson along with prop stylist Paige Hicks. That reminds me, is it summer yet? Not that I need another reason for a cool treat on a hot afternoon. One of these delights along with an iced coffee and the forecast will be downright frigid for the upcoming heat wave.
