Björn Wallander was born July 1, 1977 in a small town called Västervik in Sweden. He began taking photographs when he was 15.
He moved to New York before 2000 and assisted legendary photographers such as Brigitte Lacombe, Albert Watson, Mikael Jansson, Stewart Shining, and Anders Overgaard, among others.
During the last seven years, Björn has contributed to magazine publications including Elle Decor, New York, Martha Stewart, Oprah, Departures, Domino, Country Living, Flaunt, Dwell, Real Simple, New England Home, Art Review, Intersection, Plaza, Carl’s Cars, Japan Marie Claire and Esquire Japan. He has worked on campaigns for American Express, Lord and Taylor, Macy’s, Pottery Barn, Tribeca Film Festival, Redken and Infinity.
Björn resides in NYC with his dog Ella. When he’s not working, he is either hiking or sailing. His sign is Cancer, and he’s a really nice guy.
