With so many resources and connections and so much experience in the industry, we handle every aspect of the shoot, from estimates to locations to casting to permits to props and wardrobe and catering and the kitchen sink. At Big Leo, we are starting a new production post series as part of the DEN, called SETIQUETTE. Written by our in-house Producer, Karen Tighe, along with guest writers such as other producers, agents, art directors and artists, we will share a myriad of stories from the photo trenches that are funny, sad, shocking, disturbing or all of the above!

Karen has nearly 8 years of production experience with photo & video shoots for lifestyle, fashion, beauty, still life & food clients with diverse budgets from high end catalog and advertising to web and editorial. Her experience also includes casting from top fashion agencies as well as street casting/commercial print. She has produced shoots all over the world and is a veritable encyclopedia of wild and crazy incidents, including one where a team member got married when a project for H&M broke for lunch! “She just went and got married at City Hall and was back on set within an hour! TOO FUNNY! She was also back at work at 8am the next day. I don’t know of many industries where people would do such a thing!!”

I’ve fallen out of love with my home. It doesn’t look anywhere near as beautiful as this gorgeous brownstone of yours, styled by the graceful Molly Fitzsimons for HGTV Magazine. What can I possibly do to rekindle the romance? Should I call Deborah Jaffe to photograph? Do you think you could lend me a couple million bucks to first buy a whole brownstone, then completely renovate it? Then is Molly available to spruce it up a bit? The past year was a whirlwind of new projects, new friends and new faces. Below is a sampling of the images that Big Leo artists helped produce in 2011, and it represents only a small fraction of the projects that we took on. We are so grateful to be able to collaborate with so many creative people and look forward to a whole new season of making the best images come to life. Aquatopia

Kid-friendly photographer Nicole Hill Gerulat spent a hectic couple of days shooting 19 toddlers with mountaineering stylist Ed Gallagher, for the new Aquatopia line. The production on a shoot like that is always so much work – finding the right team as well as great kids, it always takes more time than the shoot itself! Big Leo’s own Karen Tighe wrangled the whole group of artists and children (same skillset – also includes cats) to bring the whole project together. Qream with an “H”

{and an “M” and an “E”}! Photographer Hector Sanchez shot the deliciously dessert-like QREAM {with Q} liqueur this past spring and until it launched a couple of months later, mum was the word. Now that music producer and entrepreneur Pharrell’s strawberry and peach flavored beverages have officially taken the market by storm, the word is YUM.

Scrumptiously food styled by Mariana Velasquez and elegantly propped by Ed Gallagher, this veteran Big Leo trio created a look and feel of decadence in keeping with Pharrell’s desire to celebrate the independent and sophisticated modern day woman.

You don’t have to go further than Qream’s online recipe diary to unlock the potential of this delicately creamy drink. Enjoy finding out which flavor is your favorite!!

A major shout out goes to Yvette Ho, owner of Manhattan’s Panade, who developed the delicious dessert recipes and to creative director Mimi Valdes for a shoot full of unprecedented fun!
